In what Sanyo is claiming to be the first, they’ve announced the soon-to-be-released PLC-WXU700 LCD projector with 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity. This will allow you to turn it into a network projector from a Windows Vista machine streaming video in widescreen at 1280×800 resolution. Not only that but it’s got a 500:1 contrast ratio, weighs just 8lbs, sports a USB drive for images and video media, and has got a brightness of 3,800 lumens.
This new toy can stream several video formats including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and WMV formats. (more…)

Sling Media has launched their first SlingPlayer App for the Apple iPhone. For those of you not familiar with Sling Media, they are the creators of SlingBox, “The SlingBox™ allows you to watch and control your favorite TV source from anywhere in the world on your laptop or cell phone. So now you can watch your DVR, digital cable, satellite receiver, or DVD player wherever you see fit. In January, Sony broke the news about the X-Series Walkman. Is it capable of going toe to toe with the iPod juggernaut? So far only time will tell.

The X-Series features a 3 inch 16:9 touch display and digital noise cancellation. It will come in 16GB and 32GB configurations and will offer standard support for many of the audio and video formats out on the market. Sony introduces the world’s first Organic LED (OLED) TV panel. Not only does this panel revolutionize the LED TV industry but it does it with style. It features a 3mm thin panel and outstanding contrast and color reproduction. Sony’s new OLED features fast response times, high brightness and various screen tilt capabilities. Most of all it is energy efficient and it uses organic material.

If you keep up with all the important tech news like I do, you probably share my sentiment that sometimes it seems like a lot of the cool contraptions I can think of have already been thought of. That’s why it’s a good thing that innovation sometimes comes in the form of getting two established pieces of technological goodness to work with each other.
In that spirit, the DVR provider TiVo has recently launched the newest addition to its already robust suite of on-the-go functionality known as TiVo Anywhere: an open beta of the TiVo app for the Apple iPhone. TiVo subscribers will be able to look at programming schedules and set their home boxes to record shows from anywhere they have data service on their iPhone’s.
The iPhone app is nearing completion, but it’s not TiVo’s first effort of its kind by any stretch of the imagination. TiVo boasts an absolute slew of recently-released and shortly-upcoming integrations with other services like (more…)

The mirror in question is the M30P, an AV display that displays a talking face to let you know what’s going on in your house. At normal times you see a real mirror that reflects your face back at you, but when the alarm sounds, the face in the mirror will come on to tell you where the security breech is.
Of course you have to have the security system already in place, this is just the magic mirror. By adding cameras and sensors to your current home security system, virtually any area in and/or around your home can be revealed. (more…)

The MPro110 is 3M’s new pocket projector and considering all the different small projectors in the works these days, the biggest deal about this one is the price. It is slated to go on sale for just $359 USD.
Many companies have been working on getting affordable pocket sized projectors to the market, and it seems like 3M has beat them to the punch.

Apple had their annual iPod refresh event today and went all out on iPods. They introduced a new iPod Touch, along with an iPod Nano which goes back to the vertical form factor of the second generation. This new gadget rocks a bigger screen, an accelerometer (just like the iPhone’s) and a Genius function (which lets you arrange your songs on the go based on how the songs blend together).
It also has a brand new feature: shake your iPod to shuffle the music! (more…)
