Samsung Electronics is shifting towards producing more environmentally friendly mobile phones. They have have announced the SCH-W510 mobile phone which features parts made from corn flour, and is due to be released later this month.
The corn is used to create the bio-plastic that is used for some of the parts including the battery cover and parts of the casing. They also use anti bacterial finish on to decrease the negative effect handling a mobile phone may have on the human body.
Samsung said that they apply eco friendly design and manufacturing practices.
Okay, there hasn’t been any touch-screen handsets from Nokia yet. However, the newest business phones from Nokia seem to pack improvements on other fronts.
The Nokia E66 (pictured above) adopts a slider design with accelerometer that detects the phone’s orientation, switching from portrait to landscape automatically just by turning the device. This E series stainless slider is equipped with A-GPS and Nokia Maps, to guide you in more than 150 countries in the world. For those of you living in the US, you can help to fight crime in Gotham City. Nokia has released the Nokia 6205 Dark Knight edition mobile phone to celebrate the upcoming movie The Dark Knight. This limited edition Batman-themed phone will be available exclusively online at verizonwireless.com, beginning Sunday, June 15th.

At first glance the Sony Ericsson Alicia walkman phone appears to be simpler than it really is, but after you watch the video you’ll notice that their is more than meets the eye.
It turns out outside of this flip phone is actually a display, which can be used to control the music player and other features.
As we mentioned recently, the LG Decoy was the first handset to have an integrated Bluetooth built in to the backside. In addition to that handy device, today LG announced two more phones for the Verizon line up; the LG Dare, and LG Chocolate 3. The LG Dare will have V Cast support, a 3.2 Megapixel camera that promises to adapt to low light levels, a built-in photo editing tool and the capability to upload the photos to a “social networking site”. In addition to that, the Dare will come with a stylus with “advanced handwriting recognition” and a virtual QWERTY keyboard. The Dare is scheduled to be released this July.
The LG Chocolate 3 is a classic flip phone with a lot to offer. It includes a music player control wheel on the outside, an FM transmitter, an MP3 player, V Cast support, dual speakers and stereo Bluetooth. (more…)
Have we hit our limit? This new watch has so many bells and whistles it may be too heavy to wear. Let’s start with the phone. The dialing is done via the keypad on the back lit wrist strap. Talking is either straight audio with a built-in mike, or via a bluetooth earpiece also provided. Talk time is up to 150 min. Standby is as much as 100 hours!
It has a 1.3-inch display and it’s a touch screen. Right. I guess that means you can only touch the screen because you couldn’t actually manipulate something in that small space! There is a mini stylus handy that could help when using your organizer or one of the several games. It hides away on the watch so you can keep track of it. The Gigabyte Gsmart MS820 is set to be the imaging maestro, boasting 5 a Megapixel camera with autofocus and VGA display running Windows Mobile. MS820 is the first Windows Mobile device that incorporates a 5 Megapixel sensor into the unit, slightly earlier than the Samsung i900 Omnia.

The world watched in anticipation today as Steve Jobs unveiled the all new iPhone 3G at Apple’s annual World Wide Developer’s Conference (WWDC). Let’s take a look at some of the features that make this model a bit more attractive than the current version.
As the name suggests, the new iPhone 3G now works on 3G enabled cellular networks, which allows for more reliable data transfers at much greater speeds. The speed boost will be most noticeable when surfing webpages, viewing large email attachments, and watching streaming video.
Another much needed hardware addition is integrated GPS functionality. It is now possible to accurately find your location, get directions and see traffic updates in real time. (more…)
The Samsung i900 Omnia is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and has a 3.2-inch display that takes up most of the front panel of the phone. It comes with Samsung’s own TouchWiz user interface and the screen has a resolution of 240 by 400 pixels (Wide QVGA).
The quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) phone will operate on both WCDMA and GSM and supports 7.2Mbps HSDPA and EDGE data networking.
The phone will come in both 8Gb and 16Gb versions and supports a whole range of video standards including DivX, XviD, H.263, H.264, Windows Media Video and MP4.
The camera has 5 megapixel resolution and other features include GPS (Global Positioning System), Bluetooth, a USB port and FM radio. (more…)
Sling has been working on an iPhone version of their Slingbox for mobile phones for some time now. Slingbox allows you to watch your home TV programming while you are away from home.
