Ever wonder what will happen if a smartphone swallowed steroids for breakfast? Give a big round of applause to the Tetra T-Pad, a hunk of a smartphone.
The muscle is not just for looks, this phone is really really tough. That is really important, since it will make up for the plain built-for-war look. The T-Pad boasts shock proof, IP65 waterproof casing, and a keypad that resists dust, debris, and any other matter.
The specifications are pretty good. You’ll get VGA resolution display, Intel’s Xscale 400MHz CPU, 64MB of SDRAM and WIndows CE. Net 4.2 Connectivity is provided include Bluetooth, USB, and optional WiFi/GPS. (more…)
If you haven’t heard already, 5 states have already enacted laws to ban cell phone use when driving your car unless you are using a hands free device such as a bluetooth headset enabled phone. The five 5 states are California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York or Washington. It will be illegal to operate a phone while driving without a hands-free headset in many more states to come so this is definitely a good time to get one and avoid the tickets.
But no need to fret, we can help you to avoid making an irrational impulse buy because we’ve scoured the reviews at Amazon, Froogle, CNET and Epinions to bring you a broad-based assessment of the best bluetooth headsets money can buy. The list is sorted from best rated to worst rated, of the best…the creme da la creme! We excluded headsets with high scores from reviewers but negative buyer comments to bring you only the *best*.
After much anticipation, Nokia has finally, and officially, introduced its new line of sleek and sexy phones. The Supernova Series represents the mid-range fashion section of the market. They are meant for consumers who see their phones as a fashion accessory as well as a communications device.
The new line includes two “candy-bar” phones, the 7210 and 7310. It will also include a flip phone, the 7510, and a slider, the 7610. Apparently the conspicuously absent 7410 was not worthy of market.
The base phone, the 7210, includes tri-band GSM radio, EDGE, a 2 Megapixel camera, and an FM radio. The slightly better 7310 supports changeable Xpress-On faceplates, TV-out, and GSM 850. The 7510 crams all the features of the 7310 in a flip-phone form factor while the 7610 incorporates a 3.2 Megapixel camera.
Maybe it’s the global warming or the increasing trend of flooding, but electronic manufacturers keep releasing waterproof gadgets. The latest one is from Panasonic. The Tropical 823P will be marketed through Softbank in Japan. The design is very Japanese, with unbelievably striking color.
There are four different colors including pure white, cherry pink, marine blue, and lime green. (more…)
The Redbull wrapped around the iPhone dock you see above is a do it yourself anti-interference shield for the Apple iPhone. If you have ever had your iPhone sitting next to some speakers or a monitor you know how much interference it creates with both displays and speakers.
This shield can be built in about 15-30 minutes and it is said that it “effectively reduces or eliminates all the buzzing sounds the iPhone inflicts on surrounding unshielded speakers.” (more…)
If you’ve ever gone to a foreign country, finding out where you are can sometimes be more complicated than it seems at first. Even GPS-Equipped globe trotters can be mislead as often times the map looks nothing like the terrain around them.
The European Space Agency (ESA) has set out to change that however. They’ve developed a system dubbed the “Eye-Phone” that utilises GPS Coordinates, Advanced Object Recognition and relevant information retrieved from the Internet to recognize and identify unknown objects.
That is a long way of saying “Take a photo with your mobile phone and it instantly tells you what you’re looking at”. (more…)
You know how our Japanese friends usually get the good gadgets first? Well, they kinda did it again with this underwater phone. The NTT DoCoMo F705i is dubbed as “A waterproof & slim phone seeking slenderness”. I don’t really connect to the tag line, but basically with this phone you can finally be taking calls (safely) while having a bath. How cool is that?
To prove that it can resist water, the phone is put into a tank of water while operating. It feels like watching Luke Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back, but much better.
The F705i is only usable in Japan at the moment. It has a 1.3 megapixel CMOS camera and standby time for approximately 460 hours. Other details are pretty scant, but I think mermaids and mermans will digg this.
Garmin is launching a new touchscreen GPS smartphone later this year but they’re not going to make it themselves. Apparently it’s to be made by a leading electronics manufacturer from Taiwan, Asus.
This is one of the richest-featured touchscreen handsets to come out this year. No wonder Garmin is carefully considering who they want to make it. Asus is the maker of the Eee PC line and the magnificent ZX1 mobile phone which was made in collaboration with Lamborghini. With that kind of reputation, no wonder Garmin looked their way.
The Nuvifone, will be a hybrid between a smartphone and a navigation device. It’ll have Wi-Fi, GSM, and 3G connectivity. (more…)
There are two firsts for the Sony Ericsson C905. It’s the first Cyber-shot slider phone and the first Sony Ericsson with an 8.1 Megapixel camera. I don’t know how good the photo results are or whether it can rival a dedicated digital camera or not.
With 8.1 Megapixels, you can print on up to A3 size paper.
The specs are pretty impressive. It comes with face detection auto-focus, smart contrast, an image stabilizer, geo-tagging, and a Xenon flash (just like a digital camera). Displaying photos on the TV is pretty easy with Wi-Fi (DLNA) or through the TV-Out Cable.
We previously covered Nokia’s two new business handsets: The Nokia E66 and the E71. I just got my hands on some new videos of both of these new phones in action. Enjoy.
