3G iPhone: Up to 1500KB Per Second Downloads and GPS

Their has been some more breaking information about the new features in the upcoming 3G iPhone from Apple.

I remember when I got my iPhone the first week it came out, the download speeds used to be a lot faster when I was browsing the web or using YouTube. Within a few weeks after that, their was noticeable difference in speed. BoyGeniusReport noted that prior to the rush of iPhones, the Edge network was getting around 200-250Kbps. I think anyone who has an iPhone now can tell you it is a lot slower than that today. That’s where 3G comes in.

The new 3G iPhone offers a drastic improvement on download speeds, possibly up to 1500Kbps.

Samsung Instinct Launch Scheduled for June 20th

Available exclusively on Sprint, Samsung is ready to launch its challenger to the iPhone, a slick little phone they like to call the Instinct.

The Instinct is very similar to the iPhone in that it is a large touchscreen device that features apps high end users would expect, like full internet browsing, visual voicemail, GPS, a 2.0 MP camera and multimedia playback.

However, a few things set it apart from iPhone. It has haptic response, search, voice commands, dedicated home, back and phone buttons. It also features a Micro-SD memory expansion slot, and apps that can be rearranged on the home screen.

Samsung to Debut 3M’s Mini Projectors in New Cell Phones

3M Mini ProjectorPerhaps the thought of carrying around a miniature projector in your pocket evokes childhood memories of Princess Leia pleading with Obi-Wan for help through a hologram, but Samsung plans to capitalize on 3M’s new mini projectors by rolling them out with new phones later this year.

What’s not clear is whether these projectors will come as a plug-in add on, or built into the phones themselves.

Currently, the size of the projectors makes them about as big as the cameras in the camera phones many of us currently carry.

Consumers might not appreciate it either way, as the component is expected to retail for anywhere from $200 to $400. (more…)

Not Bold Enough? Get BlackBerry Bold

Smart phone maker RIM has announced their latest BlackBerry incarnation, dubbed the BlackBerry Bold. It has a slightly different design from the previous ones – which are fairly common in the mobile phone industry. The release tells us that the Bold’s frame is satin and chrome and the backplate is a leather-like plastic. Hmmm… Too bad we haven’t got a sample to confirm that yet.

The Bold (also known as model number 9000) is claimed to have the best display among the Blackberry line-up. The half-VGA (480×320 resolution) LCD (thats whay they call it) promises vibrant and razor sharp images.

In terms of storage, it comes with 1GB internal memory, expandable through a microSD/SDHC memory card slot, which is accessible from a side door. The usual Blackberry applications can also be found here. For connectivity and messaging, the Bold is all over it with tri-band HSDPA, WiFi, and quad band GSM network support. (more…)
