UMPCFever has gotten a first-look at the Aigo MID, or Mobile Internet Device. The MID, manufactured by Hong Kong company Aigo, is a hybrid between a UMPC and Mobile Phone. It is designed primarily for hand-held computing (similar to the BenQ MID) and features a touchscreen, stylus and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Apart from its small form factor, the Aigo MID weighs just 200g. That is even lighter than Raon’s minute Everun UMPC. The Aigo comes with a 4.8 inch display at 840×480 pixels. In tests, the device ran smoothly under its install of Linux and even sported iPhone like features such as a sliding program launcher. (more…)

At a conference yesterday, Nicolas Negroponte announced the OLPC XO-2, the follow-up to the successful OLPC XO.
The laptop is designed to be significantly smaller than its predecessor, making it more like a book than a computer, given its form factor. In fact, the XO-2 is designed to be flipped on its side and used as a book.
The device features dual touch screens this time around, allowing the device’s functions to change dramatically depending on what the user desires. Gone is the hand crank that was present in the original XO, leading some to speculate that this laptop may draw power from sunlight. (more…)
Who hasn’t seen at least one of the iPod family’s protectors? Well soon there will be just one. May I introduce the iFrogz Audiowrap family. Trendy iPod protection with a difference. Unlike the rest of the field, iFrogz Audiowrapz cases have built in speakers. They even impressed iProng–an iPod news and reviews website. Each year they pick out a product that stands above the rest. This year it was the iFrogz Audiowrapz.
Here’s what iProng says about the Audiowrapz Nano:
“The nano slides into an internal hard plastic sled, connecting to the speakers via the nano’s headphone port. …[So] at $25, the audiowrapz costs less than some competing silicone cases that don’t have speakers built-in. …[It] doesn’t chew through the nano’s battery life…
“…It’s the kind of product that audiophiles will quickly dismiss, but the general public will love it to death.”
