Samsung is still very much in love with the slide form factor and now they’ve released the world’s first DVB-H TV slider phone. It’s called the Samsung P960. It will first appear in Holland through KPN. The P960 will support other European mobile TV standards like DVB-CBMS and OMA-BCAST.
You can view TV shows on its large 2.6-inch QVGA TFT screen with image-enhancing DNIe. Viewers can also benefit from features such as Electronic Service Guide (ESG) that provides an on-screen TV guide, much like the one that comes from your cable or satellite TV provider. It also has picture in picture and a time shifting feature that shifts TV program schedules when a show is interrupted by incoming calls, so you don’t miss any of it. (more…)

Intel along with a wireless startup will be demonstrating a new Personal Area Networking (PAN) technology based on WiFi (802.11x) this week. The WiFi-spinoff technology, developed by Ozmo Devices (Palo Alto, California) will allow short range, high bandwidth communication to several Ozmo-enabled peripherals at once.
That is like being connected to multiple Bluetooth devices at once, but instead of Bluetooth it would be 802.11x WiFi. That would eliminate the need for Bluetooth devices, and according to analyst Johnathan Gruber, PAN technology “will definitely be a threat to Bluetooth technology.”
Ozmo based devices are slated to be released sometime in 2009 and will include Ozmo enabled headphones, keyboards, stereo speakers and mobile phones. (more…)

Designer Art Lebedev has revealed the upcoming successor to the ever popular Optimus Maximus keyboard, called the Optimus Popularis. Each key can display a different image, because they are laid over an LCD screen. Their old Maximus keyboard featured an OLED in each key.
The new one features transparent keys laid over a single screen. The use of a single screen, as opposed to the use of a screen in each key should significantly lower production costs, thus lowering the price too. (more…)

Plastics are really bad for the environment, and with the millions of gadgets disposed of each year, plastic cases are really going to fill up landfills for decades. Bamboo on the otherhand is a sturdy, biodegradable material that is produced rapidly by the fast-growing bamboo plant. Whilst we can recycle the computer’s innards, a bamboo casing would allow us to recycle the casing as well! My only gripe?: Doesn’t that make the notebook heavier?

Within a few weeks after that, their was noticeable difference in speed. BoyGeniusReport noted that prior to the rush of iPhones, the Edge network was getting around 200-250Kbps.
