The mirror in question is the M30P, an AV display that displays a talking face to let you know what’s going on in your house. At normal times you see a real mirror that reflects your face back at you, but when the alarm sounds, the face in the mirror will come on to tell you where the security breech is.

The Immersive Cocoon, or i-Cocoon for short, has 360 degree surround video capabilities. Add that to it’s 3d surround sound as the audio-visual experience provided by the i-Cocoon completely envelops you, creating very realistic virtual environments.
It has a 3D motion tracking system which senses arm, hand and leg movements using a series of motion tracking cameras inside the Cocoon. Monitoring your movements using this system allows you to “fight in a Kung Fu game or swim through a sea of jellyfish, with the display responding in real time and surround vision. Many companies have been working on getting affordable pocket sized projectors to the market, and it seems like 3M has beat them to the punch.

Just like the law of gravity, what goes up (in size) must come down (in price). Here’s a perfect example for that law. Sharp has recently announced several new LCD HDTVs to bring full high-definition experience to the masses. The SB series (LC-52SB55U, LC-46SB54U and LC-42SB45U) comes in sizes of 42-inches, 46-inches, and 52-inches.
All three models feature a pixel response time of about 6ms (6.5ms on the 42-inch model), and are claimed to provide excellent picture quality in fast-moving action scenes. The wide viewing angles help make the TV viewable from almost any angle. (more…)
Contrast ratios for LCD TVs is definitely improving very fast. Forget 100,000:1 contrast ratio. Let’s just skip to 1,000,000:1 as proven by Samsung with the new 950 display line, which is an update to the previous year’s 81 series.
It combines LED backlighting and 120Hz panel to provide better performance displaying scenes with fast movements such as sports or action movies.
