The rugged CF-U1 is the first Toughbook tablet PC from Panasonic that runs on an Intel Atom Processor and has a 5.6 inch wide LCD display.
Continuing the ToughBook tradition, CF-U1 is built to be punished. How much punishment you ask? The demonstration during the launch involved dropping it 30 times from a height of 1.2 meters!! Uh,В I don’t think my current notebook would survive even 2 drops. (more…)

Possibly in response to AMD’s new HD 4850, NVIDIA has announced their 9800 GTX+ Video Card which will be available in mid-July. This card is a considerable bump over the current 9800 GTX.
Core clock speed increased from 675 MHz to 738 Mhz. The Shader clock increased from 1688 MHz to 1836 MHz. NVIDIA will employ its new 55nm process to make this all possible. This means faster speed using less electricity and creating less heat. (more…)
If you have ever used a computer that had more than one monitor or a computer with a very big monitor attached to it, it’s hard to go back to using just one little monitor.
Now imagine using one of the huge gigantic multi monitor setups below. Going back to even two or three monitors would feel extremely small in comparison.

Another creation from the Giga Pixel Lab. Welcome to scary twenty-four monitor Quake 3! The system is driven by 12 Linux servers using Distributed Multihead X and Chromium software. We’re betting that its pretty easy to see the enemy coming in this one.

This massive wall of fifty 21″ displays is from the Giga Pixel Lab at Virginia Tech. Each display is touch capable, thus the shiny appearance. 25 Shuttle PCs are used as a cluster to drive this massive display, with a total resolution of 65,536,000 pixels (65.5 Mega Pixels). We’re not entirely sure what anyone would do with such a monster, but it sure is a good way to ask for an increase on your research grant (cough!).

HP has introduced its newest notebook PC designed for Asia at the HP Connecting Your World conference held in Berlin, Germany. The 12.1-inch Compaq Presario CQ20 is pretty compact and boasts a design that will be ideal for the young, which is in line with Compaq’s market segmentation.
With it’s piano black coating it is similar to the previous Compaq Presario models. Under the hood, you can find the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a built-in webcam, high-performance audio and dual-digital microphone. (more…)
Along with the aclaimed Intel Atom and Via’s Nano Processors, it seems as though AMD is taking a swing at the UMPC market. The picture below appears to be a leaked AMD slide, describing a new single-core, 64-bit processor.

LaCie has released a new 1 Terabyte portable hard drive, as if their older 500GB model didn’t offer enough storage. The new BigDisk Quadra actually has two 2.5-inch drives inside one enclosure, yet it is still rather small and weighs just 1.4 pounds. The two drives are configured in a level 0 RAID setup.
The drive supports eSATA, Firewire 800 (it also comes with a Firewire 400 adapter) and USB 2.0 interfaces. It is cross compatible with any PC or Mac.
It has an all aluminum heatsink case that keeps the drives cool without the use of a fan for super quite operation. (more…)
Most monitors can display millions of colors, but the 24″ widescreen HP DreamColor LP2480zx monitor can display a billion colors (Yes 1,000,000,000). It is a LED backlit display with 30bit imaging capabilities that can display over 64 times as much color as an LCD display. That means drastically better color accuracy, and a much more realistic picture.
The technology behind HP DreamColor was designed in collaboration with DreamWorks SKG. (more…)
The collaboration of Voodoo and HP has finally bear fruit. The new Envy 133 is one of the most beautiful, sleekest laptops on earth.
Personally, I even like it better than the MacBook Air. The design sports a carbon fiber case that weighs just 3.4 pounds and it is only a mere 0.7 inches thin. It is complete with retro futuristic edges. You can customize it by choosing one of 14 Voodoo Allure paint colors and a selection of laser engravings. (more…)

If you can’t get enough of touch screen gadgets, then HP has a treat for you. Their newest generation desktop PC is designed specifically for touch. The HP TouchSmart IQ500 Series PC encourages you to touch its 22-inch high-definition widescreen super-slim touch display. There is no box involved here, since the CPU is embedded into the display.
The best thing about the touch control is that we can literally use our fingers to do lots of stuff that you would normally need a mouse for, thanks to HP’s proprietary sotware. As far as keeping things simple, the IQ500 only uses one electrical cord, and that’s the only cable you’ll find here since everything else is wireless. (more…)
