Apple had their annual iPod refresh event today and went all out on iPods. They introduced a new iPod Touch, along with an iPod Nano which goes back to the vertical form factor of the second generation. This new gadget rocks a bigger screen, an accelerometer (just like the iPhone’s) and a Genius function (which lets you arrange your songs on the go based on how the songs blend together).

Looking like something made out of PVC piping, the new USB speakers from LaCie are still worth your inspection. Regardless of appearance, these are high quality digital audio speakers. They have 16-bit signal processing and a frequency range of 90Hz - 20kHz. They deliver two watts of total power, with 1 watt per channel. They’re also compact and hassle free with the USB cable fitting nicely in to the base of each speaker.

With the impending release of both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour, the news has finally come out about the fact that the instruments of each game will be cross-compatible between both games. This has been officially confirmed by Gamerscore.
This is awesome news for both Xbox and Playstation 3 owners. Wii owners of either game are still left in the dark, which will come as no surprise for those familiar with Nintendo’s practices.
Previously both games weren’t totally compatible, with some instruments being game-independent while others were tied to their respective games. (more…)

So you got your brand new iPhone 3G to impress everyone and it’s been working great, except there’s one tiny detail: the more you use it, the more you realize the camera sucks. It has terrible focus, needs great lighting in order to work and it has no zoom. Well, that’s no problem for the likes of Brando, who have come up with a visually impressive solution. Brando has come up with an iPhone telescope, for those times when you really needed to take a shot, but you can’t get there up-close (more…)

Cowon has unleashed the P5 in the not-so-crowded market of touchscreen personal media players (PMP). It is targeted more at video users, offering a 5 inch 800×480 pixel touchscreen display with haptic feedback. The design is pretty nice and quite similar to the Archos line of PMPs and several UMPCs.
To speed things up in the interface and playback department, the P5 uses a fast 700Mhz processor to decode full DVD-resolution videos, both offline and online through the built-in DMB tuner (for now, it’s limited in Korea). (more…)

GIGA JUKE is the latest attempt from Sony to bring an advanced hi-fi music system into your living room. Even iPod lovers can benefit from its built-in dock and radio tuner. You can also copy music from CDs to its hard drive pretty fast (a 60-minute CD in less than 4 minutes), and quickly transfer the songs to other MP3 or media players. Sony claims it only takes 90 seconds to copy 74-minutes worth of music from GIGA JUKE’s hard drive to a media player.
The entry-level NAS-E35HD system can do all that at an affordable price-point. For more demanding users, the NAS-SC55PKE serves as a complete multi-room system comprised of a music server and wireless player unit, wirelessly delivering music to up to five zones. In other words, if you have only one or two rooms, stick with the NAS-E35HD. (more…)

It includes several games, namely “Hurdle Race, Catch & Dodge and Dice Roll.” The unit features a blue 0.7″ OLED, FM radio, and 10 hours of playback time. (more…)
