Netflix to Stream Movies Directly to your TV

One of the major developments that came out of 2008 was Netflix’s announcement that they would stream movies directly to your home via a set-top box or PC. Amazon and Apple followed suit with this advancement and offered similar services as well. What makes this new service different, however, is that Netflix will stream the movies directly to your TV without filtering through a set-top box or PC, meaning the service will be specially built-in to the television itself.
Currently, Amazon has a similar service in beta testing in a partnership with Sony, which is an OnDemand service for Sony TV sets. Netflix, however, is the definitive leader in this market so there may be a jump in interest in this technology once their service is fully developed and implemented. We may even see existing cable companies such as Comcast expanding their own OnDemand libraries in order to compete in the market.
This new Netflix service will be debuting this spring in association with the Korean electronics manufacturer LG, who will be manufacturing the plasma and LCD HDTV sets that will include the built-in service. The service will make available more than 12,000 movies and TV shows in HD.
