The iPod Meets the Fridge: The Gorenje Ipod Refrigerator
Apple, the proud papa of the iPod, and Gorenje, a long time maker of household appliances have gotten together to produce… wait for it… The iPod Refrigerator!
That’s right! Now you too can get a refrigerator with an iPod dock.
While docked in this sleek black fridge, your iPod can charge it’s batteries, play your music or videos and connect to the internet. All at your refrigerator.
Actually I should give this pair a break. There is a function that makes sense here. Gorenje and Apple are looking to the future here. The two very different companies are merging technologies and the Gorenje refrigerator will act as a wifi portal for the remote control of other electronic appliances. There will be access to the web and the ability to download stuff like: Spot cleaning instructions for your clothes, your favorite music, that new recipe you wanted to try, the latest I Channel video.
In the future, the refrigerator won’t be just a portal, it will extend your reach significantly. The rolls rising in the oven won’t require you to be there in two hours to turn on the oven for cooking. The pot on the stove with soaking beans will become cooking beans. You can prewash your dirty jeans then send them through a regular wash all without being there.
But that’s all in the future. For now we have a refrigerator that’s able to download music from the internet.
