Samsung is The First to Squeeze 120GB Into A 1.8″ Drive

It looks like it is about as thick as four credit cards stacked one on top of the other, but what it is in reality is the first 120GB 1.8″ USB hard drive. It is known as the SpinPoint N2 from Samsung. It’s other stats are impressive also. At 1.4W and only 300mA it still can spin at an impressive 4200-rpm. That puts its power consumption at just a quarter of the power consumption of a 2.5″ drive.
It performs like a high end drive with it’s fast read and write speeds of 27MB/s and 23MB/s. All these stats are impressive, and the only bad news is the pricing: a 40GB version is $161, a 60GB is $191, an 80GB stands at $191 and the big 120GB–the record breaker–is a pocket ripping $293! I recommend that if you do go for this drive, you blindfold your wallet first.
