High Priced and Still a Bargain: Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II Camera
This sleek black wonder is the most talked about camera to come along in a long time. The new EOS 5D Mark II, sold in a body-only configuration will set you back $2,699 and in a body plus lens kit for $3,499.
I see your wallet bleeding, but wait until you hear what it’s got!
It has a 21.1 megapixel still image sensor and as with most cameras these days, this one has video: 1920 x 1080 pixel HD video at 30 frames per second. That is above normal for DSLR still camera’s, I’d say.
Still pricey, you say? Then how about this? The video camera has a 21.1 megapixel full frame 24x36mm CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 imaging processor and significantly lower noise. It has a sensitivity range from ISO 50 to ISO 25,600… Wait! That is the same as the still camera. How about that! A video capture feature that is as feature rich and high quality as the stills! Stopped the wallet bleeding, didn’t it. May I continue?
The camera can do a continuous shoot at 3.9 frames per second and that’s unlimited full-resolution JPEG’s to the limit of your memory card, or 14 RAW images in a single burst with a UDMA CF card. There’s a 15-point auto focus sensor that can be set to 9 different AF (auto focus) points plus 6 Assist AF points.
By applying the same kind of advancements in sensor design and image processing technology as their previous camera, but at higher resolution and with larger pixels, the EOS 5D Mark II achieves the highest level of image quality. Kinda what you’d expect from Canon, the first company to introduce a full-frame digital camera.
The full-frame sensor maximizes the performance of Canon EF lenses, the world’s largest selection of auto focus lenses. So basically Canon has just made a camera to end all cameras and made it compatible with your older lenses!
