Fujitsu Drops the Atom in Their AMILO Mini Ui 3520

To catch the mini notebook wave, Fujitsu Siemens finally unveiled the new AMILO Mini Ui 3520. This small notebook will compete head-to-head with netbooks from other vendors.

The specifications are pretty similar. It uses Intel’s Atom N270 processor. It has an 8.9-inch display, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a built in microphone with a low-fat weight of 1kg. One thing that stands out from the competition is the removable clip-on covers, available in five different colors. The Mini comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and ditches the SSD in favor of the hard drive. The connectivity is pretty impressive, since you can add 3G and Bluetooth through the existing Express card slot, in addition to the integrated WLAN.

You can buy it next October for around $572 USD. My hope is that it will be sturdier than the current crop of netbooks.
