VLC Media Player Comes to the iPhone and iPod Touch
If there is one thing I hate about proprietary software, it’s the hoops it makes you jump through to play your own media.
If it’s not in the right format, you might be locked in to buying a new copy of something you already own. But for iPhone/iPod Touch users there’s a new way you can watch your shows without all the time consuming hassle of converting the files to the right format.
ZodTTD has brought the VideoLan player, aka VLC Media Player to the iPhone/iPod Touch. It’s the open source king of media players and it’s quite possibly the premiere candidate for best jailbreak app ever.
Assuming you’ve jailbroken your iPhone/iPod Touch, simply install the app and you’ll be able to play back MPEG /MPG, AVI, MP3, XviD, h264, MPEG4, FLAC, 3GP, and MPEG file types along with many others!
Currently the program is in beta, so you’ll have to pay and register over at ZodTTD to have access to it, but if you wait a while, it will be freely released to all.
