The Toughbook is One Tough UMPC from Panasonic

The rugged CF-U1 is the first Toughbook tablet PC from Panasonic that runs on an Intel Atom Processor and has a 5.6 inch wide LCD display.
Continuing the ToughBook tradition, CF-U1 is built to be punished. How much punishment you ask? The demonstration during the launch involved dropping it 30 times from a height of 1.2 meters!! Uh, I don’t think my current notebook would survive even 2 drops. For those romantic lovebirds, the CF-U1 can be used in the rain without a problem, though replying to email or editing photos while underwater is not possible, yet.
Here’s the lowdown:
- Intel Atom Z520 @ 1.33Ghz
- 1GB of RAM
- 16GB of SSD Flash memory
- A 5.6-inch LCD (WSVGA) touchscreen
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or Vista Business SP1
There is no price yet, and the availability is next October in Japan.
