Foxconn’s Projector Re-defines the Term Small Projector

You have seen the invasion of mini notebooks from virtually every vendor, but how about this gadget? A new pico projector from Foxconn to complement your small computers.

The Foxconn PD-W1001 only weighs around 65 grams with dimensions of 55mm x 46mm x 26mm. That is smaller than a pencil box. No sir, the hand in the picture is not that of a giant. It’s just the hand of an average person.

This ultra petite projector incorporates a 0.3-inch Texas Instrument DLP chip with WVGA resolution (854×480 pixel and 25 lumens brightness. It certainly is a long way to go before we can use it for movie-on-the-go, but just think about the possibilities!

Expect to find it on the shelf by the second quarter of 2009.

Hmm it would be interesting if they integrated this into notebooks sometime in 2009...bring your teeny umpc into a room and project its desktop onto the wall to decorate the living space with pictures and video.
