Blu-ray Drive Prices are Sinking Below $100

Sony and HP are working together to bring sub $100 Blu-ray drives for desktops to stores by Christmas 2008. This may seem like a pretty long time to wait for that all important price drop, but considering the current prices for a Blu-ray drive this is great!

Consider how important this step is to getting Universal Blu-ray adopted by the general public. After Toshiba threw in the towel on HD DVD, Blu-ray is becoming more and more popular every day.

The projections are that the current price of Blu-Ray drivess for desktops of $150 to $300+ will have eased down to under $100 by this winter. Drives for laptops will be priced higher at about $150 OEM.
