Get GPS for Your Sony PSP

Talk about a gadget that can do it all. The PSP already impresses with its ability not only to play games, but its rich media playback, internet access with a very usable web browser and the ability to place calls through Skype. Now, it’s rumored that the PSP will be getting GPS navigation in the very near future.

The maps are created by TeleAtlas and will run off a memory stick or a PSP UMD. The price is expected to be between $100 and $200 and will come with a car mount and a fold away keyboard attachment. Some cities will even be populated by 3D buildings.

If you ask me, I think the PSP should just focus on making better games and media. The only real population I see with PSP’s these days are kids who don’t drive yet. Sure, there are tech savvy adults who have PSP’s as well, but they probably already have a GPS unit in their car. Either way, it is interesting to see how multiple features are converging onto devices, and the PSP does sport an excellent screen.

Maybe this will be a surprise hit.
