Introducing the Eco-Friendly Bamboo Ecobook from ASUS

Gotta hand it to ASUS, they really know how to make some great products. Not only do they manufacture much of Apple’s iconic hardware, but they recently hit a home run with the Eee PC.

Now they are back again and looking to be a bit more eco-friendly with their bamboo laptop.

The company recently went into production with the laptop and has plans to manufacture them on the bodies of the 11 inch ASUS S6 and the 12 inch ASUS U6, which were last seen dressed in distinguished leather. Rumor has it that it’s going to be built for modularity and easy upgradeablity, while using environmentally sound manufacturing techniques.

No official specs have been released yet, but the laptop is expected to retail for around $1,700.

The integration of wood with computers really shows how computers are making their way out of the realm of geeks and server rooms, and being accepted into the home, almost like a piece of nice furniture. This laptop looks really slick and given ASUS’ track record, it might turn out to be another hit for the Taiwanese giant. Expect these laptops to be in stores as early as June, 2008.
